There may be over 1000 trekking companies in Kathmandu, but Malung Treks is as unique as the trek it will provide for you. Their motto “Guests are gods” rings true, especially in their attention to detail and hospitality. They are an honest community of experienced trekkers who truly want to show you the beauty of their country. Bal Kumar Khaling Rai was my guide through Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp. To be honest, this trip would not have been the same without him. Every step of the way felt like an adventure; he taught me fascinating facts about the jungle and Nepali culture. I learned to see the Himalayas through the eyes of a local, to notice which plants made good medicinal soup, how to make a toy out of bamboo shoots, or how to make local alcohol Raksi. Bal made me feel welcome to be part of their culture, and not like an outsider. Bal is very good at accommodating your needs - he made jokes all the time and he noticed when I was feeling weak. He made sure I was physically taken care of and he was able to adjust our itinerary on the spot. He always wanted to bring me to the hotels with the best views, best service, and best local foods. Nepal is a beautiful country, with breathtaking mountains and hospitable people. It is even more so because of Bal and Malung Treks. If you want a good time in Nepal, make a reservation through them and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
We went on a 7-day trek to the Langtang Valley with Prakash! It was an amazing experience and Prakash was a very good guide for us. We had an incredible time together with stunning views and lots of card games. Looking forward to the next trek!
My Dad and I traveled to Nepal in January 2016. It was the trip of a lifetime & our trip wouldn't have been the same without Raj Kumar Rai I would 100% recommend Malung Treks & Expedition to any and all of my friends & family traveling to Nepal.
