Naya Khang which is also called Ganja la chuli stands at 5844m of altitude. Naya Khang peaksimilar with Yala peak is also another climbing peak situated in the Langtang valley region. The peak is slowly gaining its popularity among few climbers around the world and this one as well requires fewer technicalities due to being easily accessible shaped mountain, having said though, being physically fit is never ill-advised. This is very great for the new adventure seekers. Nearest from the Kathmandu valley, lying at North, along with the Langtang valley trek makes it more interesting. It is an excuse to know a great deal about the centuries old cultures, glaciers and climbing the peak is the main objective. Not to mention the sights of the surrounding mountains and the sense of achievement on successfully scaling the top point is always out of the world.

Trip Itinerary

Arrival tribhuwan international airport in Kathmandu (1350m)

After the arrival Malungtreks staff will be there to pick you up from the airport and transfer to the hotel. Then we can have a meeting with a co. staff or guide for a brief talk regarding the matter. And now you can make all the preparations according to the need for tomorrow’s trek.

BB plan at hotel.

Kathmandu to Shaybrubesi (1503m)

Driving time: 6 to 7 hrs

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we start from Kathmandu in our private jeep to Shyabrubesi. Driving along the Trisuli town, we stop for a lunch at Kaliskatan. Now driving uphill, a bit narrow and bumpy road, facing the effects of landslides especially at monsoon takes us to Dhunche after which a downhill driveway of one hour will take us to Shyabrubesi. Overnight at guesthouse.

Shaybrubesi to lamahotel (2410m)

Trekking time: 6 to 7 hrs

After breakfast, we hit the trial as our trekking starts from today. Walk for about 15 to 20 minutes, we reach Bhotekosi (River, flows from Tibet), crossing using the suspension bridge. And now our path gradually starts through the valley comprising of thick jungle, rocky trials, bamboos, oak trees and rhododendrons and yes we can encounter grey monkeys. We can find teahouses at the small settlement of Pairo after which we can reach a place called Bamboo. Hereafter, our trial turns a bit strenuous for it is a continuous uphill climb for about 3.5 hours all the way to Lama Hotel. Overnight at guesthouse

Lamahotel to Langtang (3430m)

Trekking time: 6 to 7 hrs

Another big day ahead! Walking the similar trekking trial as the previous day for about 2 hours, we can catch a sight of mountains named Langtang II (6596m), Langtang Lirung (7227m), Langshisa (6427m). Gradually we march forward reaching Ghoda Tabela, Thyangsyap village and finally to our destination of Langtang village, (A new and small settlement, the consequence of the landslides of the major earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015 that swept most part of the village including the renowned organic yak cheese factory). Overnight at guesthouse.

Lantang to kyanjin Gumba (3830m).

Trekking time: 3 to 4 hrs

As usual we commence our today’s task with a breakfast. We hike towards a slightly elevated trial and it can be a little uneasy as a result of gained altitude so making a slow and gradual step is strongly recommended. The positive side of today’s trek is that we can have a wonderful glimpse of Langtang mountain range including Langshisa, Chergo ri and many more panaromic views, yaks grazing along the way, mani stone walls and prayer wheels are all set in store for us until we make it to Kyanjin Gumpa. After we reach, we can go look around the village, the Bhuddhist Monastry and the signature Cheese factory which was founded by the Swiss and some local villagers. Overnight at guesthouse.

Acclimatization to the kyanjin Ri (4773m)

Time for hiking: 4 to 5 hrs

Today we start early in the morning and walk a switch back path at bit elevated trial all the way up to the Kyanjin Ri. On top, we are to enjoy the effort that we made before. Being amidst the surrounding mountains can be a outer world experience of a lifetime. Then we climb down the same way.

Back to the guesthouse.

Kyangjin Gumpa to Nyegang kharka (4430m)

Trekking time: 5 hrs

As of today, walking downwards towards the Langtang river which we may reach after 15 to 20 minutes and crossing it through the wooden bridge. It can be a little harder today as well because of the increasing altitude step by step and therefore one is to be very slowly pacing is advised. Capturing the mountain walls, glaciers while hiking along the bushy trials of junipers till we reach Nyegang Kharka. Overnight at guesthouse.

Nyegang kharka to Naya khang high camp (4960m)

Trekking time: 5 hrs

Rock ribbed rough moraine way, curvy zig zag ascent pathway is all made up to test our physical and mental strengths that awaits between us and the highcamp. Mountain walls on the distant view as we make progress is all effort worthy. Overnight at the tented camp.

Summit day: Naya khang high camp to Naya khang peak (5844m) and back to Nyekhang kharka camp (4430m)

Climbing and trekking time: 10 hrs

At around 3 am, the preparation kicks off for the most awaited day of our 14 days trek. You are to be very careful and active throughout the long climb and listen and follow the every technical and physical suggestion that a guide make.  Here comes the climax of the trip. We scaled Naya Khang peak!! Now we make a slow process climbing down the same trial to Nye gang Kharka. Overnight at guesthouse.

Nyegang kharka to Kyanjin Gumpa (3830m)

Trekking time: 5 hrs

Descending back to the same trial that we tread before and after crossing the river we treks upwards towards Kyanjin Gumpa. Overnight at the guesthouse.

Kyangjing Gumpa to Lama Hotel (2410m)

Trekking time: 6 to 7 hrs

Reliving the same moments and sceneries, bidding farewell to the snow covered stonewalls, walking back again the same trial  as we are about to end our trek on the way back to Lama hotel.

Lama hotel to shyabrubesi (1503m)

Trekking time: 5 to 6 hrs

Here we find again ourselves in that thick jungle of oaks, bamboos and the lovely rhododendrons. Now this can be a good sign for us there will be plenty of oxygen compare to the higher altitude and we can be relaxed but also can be tiresome physically as a result of the days of walking. After crossing Bhotekoshi and finally reaching Shyabrubesi, we end our trek. As this is the last day of the trek, we can have our last dinner of the Himalayas at the guest house.

Shyabrubesi to Kathmandu (1350m)

Driving time: 6 to 7 hrs

Driving back to Kathmandu after the last breakfast of the mountains while the guide makes sure to see you off to the hotel.
