In the spring of 2024, the majestic Himalayas welcomed an inspiring family from Australia — the Plath Family — who embarked on an extraordinary trekking journey across some of Nepal’s most iconic mountain regions. Their adventure stood as a powerful example of family bonding, courage, and the joy of exploration across generations.

Beginning the Journey: Ghorepani & Poon HillPlath family from Australia

The adventure began on 27 March 2024 with the classic Ghorepani & Poon Hill Trek, a perfect introduction to the beauty of the Annapurna region.

The family hiked through lush rhododendron forests, traditional mountain villages, and stone stairways leading to breathtaking viewpoints. On 31 March 2024, they reached Poon Hill (3,210 meters), where they witnessed a spectacular Himalayan sunrise over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges — a moment that marked the first major achievement of their journey.

Exploring the Everest Region: Gokyo Lakes, Cho La Pass & Everest Base Camp

After successfully completing the Annapurna trek, the family continued their adventure into the legendary Everest region. From 01 April to 18 April 2024, they undertook the challenging and rewarding Everest – Gokyo – Cho La Pass – Everest Base Camp Trek.

This route tested endurance and determination, especially while crossing the high-altitude Cho La Pass (5,420 meters). Despite the challenges, the Plath Family moved forward with strong teamwork and positive spirit.

One of the highlights of the journey was reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters) — standing at the foot of the world’s highest mountain. The adventure peaked at Kala Patthar (5,545 meters), offering unforgettable panoramic views of Mount Everest and surrounding giants.

A Family Achievement Across Generations

What made this journey truly special was the participation of the entire family:

•Brenden John Plath
•Jennifer Plath
•Pia Plath
•Dylan Plath

Trekking at high altitude with two young daughters is no small achievement. Their success reflects excellent preparation, mutual support, and a shared passion for adventure. The Plath Family proved that with the right guidance and mindset, the Himalayas can be explored safely and meaningfully as a family.

Guided with Care & Experience

The entire journey was organized by Malung Treks and Raj Kumar Rai, and professionally led by Prakash Rai, an experienced trekking guide known for his calm leadership and deep knowledge of the mountains.

From route planning and acclimatization to safety and encouragement, the guidance ensured a smooth and memorable experience throughout both trekking regions.

A Journey to Remember

The Plath Family’s Himalayan trek was more than a physical journey — it was a story of connection, resilience, and shared achievement. Their footsteps across Annapurna and Everest regions will remain a lifelong memory, inspiring other families around the world to dream big and explore together.

Nepal’s mountains don’t just test strength — they build stories.

And this is one story that will be remembered forever.
